A significant highlight awaits us at Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its appearance in acclaimed films like Gladiator, Son of God, and Game of Thrones. Here, we indulge in a delicious lunch.
Following our meal, we immerse ourselves in the mesmerizing natural landscapes and historic wonders. Our next stop is the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, followed by the enchanting Valley of the Roses, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. Journeying through the Berber villages of El Kelaa des M'Gouna and Boumalene Dades via the scenic valley, we conclude our day's adventure and spend the night in this picturesque location.
After breakfast in Boumalene Dades, we embark on the next leg of our journey. We traverse through the charming Berber village of Tinghir, marveling at the imposing Todra Gorge with its towering canyons dominating the skyline. Continuing our route, we pass by several towns and stop for lunch in either Tinjdad or Rissani, located in the Tafilalet region, renowned for its delectable Berber pizza. Post-lunch, we make our way to Merzouga, where our camel trek begins. After a refreshing tea break and secure storage of your belongings at the hotel, a 90-minute camel ride leads us to a Nomadic camp nestled amidst the awe-inspiring Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the tallest in North Africa. The camp comprises comfortable tents equipped with mattresses and linen, a restaurant, kitchen, and restroom facilities. As evening descends, savor a delightful dinner while being entertained by local performers around the campfire.
Prepare for an early awakening to witness the mesmerizing spectacle of sunrise. After returning to your hotel on camelback, enjoy a rejuvenating shower and a hearty breakfast. We bid farewell to Erg Chebbi, heading northward as we traverse the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains en route to Fez. Throughout our journey, we make frequent stops to appreciate the rugged mountains and vast plains. Our pause in Azrou treats us to an encounter with the indigenous North African Monkeys in the scenic Cedar Forest. Finally, we arrive in Fez, where you can check in to your riad and relax.
